I know that most IT people tend to respect Dell is a company mainly because of the fact that they are just so ubiquitous in the computer world. And, to be honest, I really haven’t run across too many problems with their personal computers over the 10 years that our company is had. I think there was that one situation in which we need to fix a Dell raid server, but outside of that I have been pretty pleased overall with their laptops. I have used the Dell laptop for quite some time and as a result have had a lot of experience with. On the other hand, when it comes to Dell PowerEdge servers, we’ve only had a couple and unfortunately they have been very flaky overall.
But, I certainly do not want to tar them with the brush of negativity. In fact, I’m sure that not a lot of people need Dell PowerEdge data recovery because of the fact that a lot of them have good backup servers built in. At least, any responsible administrator should do this.
I can’t tell you that this was the first time that I was looking for data recovery for my Dell PowerEdge server, because obviously this was not the case. I have always had a love-hate relationship with Dell raid servers in general, mainly because of the fact that although their salesforce has always been fantastic, their support is always something that is a little bit lacking. I only say this because we also use HP and IBM servers at my work, and I have to say that their support staffing to be much more effective.
I think you have a lot to do with the fact that Dell does a lot of off shoring of their support when it probably isn’t necessary thing. I mean, you should see some of the support contract that my company had with Dell. It would blow your mind. But, I guess I can expect that they are not going to specialize in raid recovery for their own servers. That would be essentially admitting failure upfront.
